Dr. Jossée MacInnis
Bandleader, Clarinet
Dr. Jossée MacInnis, a Montreal-based clarinetist, began her musical journey in Nova Scotia at the age of 11. Her performances have touched stages across Eastern Canada, Ontario, Quebec, Brazil, and Ireland, demonstrating her versatility in classical, jazz, and world music traditions. Jossée’s passion for klezmer music has led her to collaborations with Light of East Ensemble, specializing in Greek-Arabic, Turkish and Sephardic music; Queen Kong, Toronto based 6-piece klezmer fusion band, led by drummer Lorie Wolf and her own Montréal-based klezmer prog rock band, Kallisto. Jossée has also performed and collaborated with jazz artists, such as Lotus Wight, and Miranda Ceara and the Odd Fellows Orchestra and continues to deliver performances in the jazz manouche, old time jazz and New Orleans genres. As a classically trained musician, Jossée has performed in various chamber music formats leading to her own project of Ensemble Atlantica, resulting in the album Mnemonic Verses, featuring all-new works written for the ensemble by emerging Canadian and international composers. She has also lent her skills as a bass clarinetist to Montreal's wind ensemble, OVNI, directed by Jonathan Dagenais. Currently, Jossée is the recipient of the Montréal Jewish Arts Council microgrant program, composing two new klezmer compositions in which she will debut with Kallisto in collaboration with the Klezkanada end-of-summer cabaret in Montréal. Dr. MacInnis holds degrees in clarinet performance from Mount Allison University (B.Mus), Western University (M.Mus), and the University of Montréal (D.E.P.A.) (D.M.A).
Antoine Bensoussan
Guitar
Antoine Bensoussan is a professional guitarist and musical director. Native from France, he has been working on the Montreal music scene for the past decade. Holder of a bachelor's degree in Music Performance from Concordia University, he has experience in many musical genres and ensemble configurations, from classical choirs to jazz ensembles, to rock, funk, pop and gospel bands. He is a guitarist, musical director, arranger and singer.
Jefferson Perez
Cello
Jefferson Perez is originally from Brazil and received his master’s degree in cello performance from the University of Montreal under Yegor Dyachkov. A specialist diploma in chamber music from the Centro Universitario Internacional with David Chew. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from Paulista State University, Brazil under Zygmunt Kubala, then started studying at the Tatui Conservatory under Eduardo Bello. He studied chamber music with the Arianna String Quartet and studied with Alceu Reis and Peter Daueslberg. He has been a member of the Sorocaba Symphony Orchestra as their principal cellist and has also played as a guest cellist for the Campinas Symphony Orchestra. Member of the Musicum Trio, until 2019 he received the First Prize XX Chamber Music Competition City of Araçatuba, Fourth Prize at the Villa Lobos Chamber Music Competition on Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and participated in the "6th International Chamber Music Competition Joseph Joachim" in Weimar, Germany. Cellist in the Sorocaba Quartet between 2011 and 2019 he also participated in the "Arianna Chamber Music Festival" (St. Louis - United States), the Santa Catarina Music Festival (FEMUSC - Brazil) and the Jazz Festival in La Calle, Uruguay. He participated in the recording of the album Coletivo Encarnado with works by Fabio Gouvea. He participated in the 8th Amazonas Festival of Opera as a guest musician of the Amazonas Philharmonie, Brazil, where he performed 'Götterdämmerung' by Richard Wagner and 'Aida' by Giuseppe Verdi. Currently, he teaches at the Youth School of the University of Montreal and is a member of the Kallisto Ensemble.
Edward Scrimger
Drums
Edward Scrimger is a Montreal-based multi-instrumentalist with a focus on drums and percussion who has been performing music professionally since 2010. Born in Toronto, Scrimger grew up in the town of Cobourg, Ontario, where he discovered concert percussion after seeing a local performance of The Wizard of Oz. After appealing to his mother to put him in drum lessons, and eventually to buy him his own drum kit, Edward started his first rock band with his friends at the age of 13. During high school, he played drums and percussion in the school jazz and concert bands before moving to Montreal in 2013 to pursue his musical career. Since then, he has played in over 30 groups - in anywhere from two to eight at a time - across a variety of genres including rock, jazz, country, klezmer, hip-hop, R&B, and samba, traveling regularly throughout Quebec and Canada’s east coast. His festival appearances include Pop Montreal, Tavern Tour, Side by Side Fest, Flourish Festival, Shivering Songs, and in March of 2025 he will be performing at the New Colossus Festival in New York City.
Patrick LeBrun
Bass guitar
Originally from New Brunswick, Patrick is a bass player with more than fifteen years of professional experience in multiple groups and musical projects in Montreal and internationally. Patrick is an accomplished musician who worked for several years in the cruise ship industry with the group Déjà Vu, as the bass player in the Just For Laughs musical comedy Hair (2023) and as a freelancer in multiple corporate projects in the greater Montreal area. As for his creative endeavors, Patrick started in the Montreal punk scene (Hardwired) into projects of various musical genres ranging from hip hop (Aien) to electronic music (Djinn Proxy).
Finishing his music teaching degree at l’université du Québec à Montréal in 2022, Patrick is now passing on his knowledge and passion to the next generation of musicians as a high school music teacher.
